It’s summer time and working in the garden is a healthy activity. Have you ever considered that not all garden plants thrive in the same water? The pH level of the water used to feed a plant can affect the way a plant thrives.
Most of the time we don’t even think about what water we use on our plants, but in nature plants are not watered with chlorinated water. Yes, even rain water is often not as pure or at the best pH level. Just like your body needs clean, alkaline, and chlorine-free water for improved health, your plants also need the healthy water for optimal growth and nourishment.
Water from an Enagic® machine producing Kangen Water® can even revitalize weak plants, making them stronger and more vibrant than ever before! Enagic® Water stimulates germination and improves seedling development, leaving your plants in peak condition without the use of harmful chemicals.
Give it a try and see for yourself which plants thrive better, those watered with chlorinated water or those watered with the correct pH level water. You will notice also a difference in the taste of your vegetables and fruit.
Use this list of vegetables and flowers and their pH level requirements.
Plants that Prefer Slightly Alkaline Water (pH 8.5 – 9.5)
Most of these plants show optimal growth in the 7.5 – 8.5, so experiment with water to find the best results. Water with a pH level of 7.0 is neutral water, a pH level of 8.5 is slightly alkaline water.
The pH of your soil will also have a big impact on which water you should use.
- Vegetables in this group include:
asparagus, beets, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, carrots, mushrooms, parsley. - Flowers in this group include:
geraniums, irises, phlox, vinca, lilacs and hydrangeas (for pink blooms). Hydrangeas are a rare plant, as the pH of your water will change the color of the blooms.
Plants that Prefer Slightly Acidic Water (pH 4.0 – 6.0)
Some plants prefer slightly acidic water and soil. For these plants experiment with a pH level of 5.0
Remember to always take into consideration the pH of your soil
- Vegetables in this group include:
peanuts, cucumbers, potatoes, dill, leeks, chili peppers, eggplant, garlic, chives, artichoke, tomatoes, and most berries.
- Flowers in this group:
rhododendrons, begonias, azaleas, heathers, hydrangeas (for blue blooms).
- Roses grow most vibrantly with pH 5.5 – 6.5, in this caste use slightly less acidic water with a pH level of 6.0 or even neutral water with a pH level of 7.0 and see which one yields the healthiest roses with your particular soil.
Plants that Prefer Neutral Water (pH 7.0)
Many vegetables and plants thrive in a neutral pH.
- Vegetables:
spinach, parsnips, brussels sprouts, sweet peas, broccoli, asparagus, beans, avocado, cantaloupe, kiwi, mint, lettuce, onions, yams, radishes, squash, bell peppers
- Flowers:
dahlias, chrysanthemums and tulips.
